The former goalkeeper and club president claims the Bundesliga giants currently lack a player of Thiago’s unique profile.

Thiago Alcantara (born in San Pietro Vernotico, 1991) left Bayern Munich through the “big door,” with the Champions League trophy in hand. The Barcelona academy product joined Liverpool for a fee of €22 million, after 235 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 37 assists. During his time in Bavaria, he accumulated 15 trophies: seven Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokal cups, two German Super Cups, one Champions League, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
It’s no surprise that Oliver Kahn misses him: “The players currently in Bayern’s midfield have very similar styles. In my opinion, Thiago was a very important factor because he was completely different.” “His special technique, his ability to beat opponents, his exceptional passes… This type of player is what is currently missing,” the former Bayern goalkeeper and president told Sky.
Kahn also urged the board to look for ‘another’ Thiago in the transfer market: “I imagine those in charge are thinking exactly about that and would like to have such a midfielder in the squad again in the future.”
