Two-time Olympic champion Boris Mikhailov has shared his views on the Gagarin Cup final series between Lokomotiv and Ak Bars. The first match of the series is set to take place on May 11 in Yaroslavl.
“In the final, we have two of the strongest teams. How they performed in the regular season and playoffs no longer matters. Yes, Ak Bars had an uneven run, but they stabilized and earned their place in the final. Lokomotiv has been more consistent throughout the journey, but that counts for little in the finals. Ultimately, the final brings together the best teams from the East and the West. Whoever imposes their will will come out on top. Trying to predict the winner is like consulting a fortune teller – and I don’t want to guess. I just want to watch the two best teams play. I hope Lokomotiv and Ak Bars will deliver beautiful hockey. There’s no doubt it will be intense, but I also want to see some artistry. In the end, though, we always look at the scoreboard,” Mikhailov said.
