Another High-Risk Match for Real Valladolid

Posted on: 05/12/2026

Real Valladolid will close out the season with five remaining fixtures: a trip to Las Palmas, a home game against Zaragoza, an away match in Santander, another home clash with Dépor, and the final league contest at the Estadio de Los Juegos Mediterráneos.

In the previous 37 matchdays, the team has already faced seven declared high-risk encounters — four at the Zorrilla and three on the road.

Regional rivalries with Burgos CF and Cultural Leonesa prompted Spain’s state commission against violence in sport to impose extra security measures. As a result, the home games against these two sides, as well as the matches at El Plantío and El Reino, were classified as high-risk.

Additionally, both matches against Sporting and the home fixture against Racing de Santander received the same designation. In truth, most of these games passed without major incidents, except for the one at El Molinón, where a brawl broke out among Real Valladolid fans during halftime — reportedly in response to provocations from local supporters — leading to a somewhat excessive police intervention.

The clash scheduled for May 16 at El Sardinero (18:30 CET) has also been deemed high-risk. Consequently, there will be an increased police presence, ticket sales for away fans will be restricted, and all necessary measures will be taken to prevent any confrontations. No tickets will be sold on matchday, and visiting supporters must sit in the designated area.

It’s possible that Racing de Santander could celebrate their long-awaited promotion that day, while Real Valladolid might already be safe if they pick up points in the next two matches. Given the remaining opponents, it seems unlikely that the Pucela will surpass the mark of eight high-risk fixtures this season — unless the clash against Zaragoza turns particularly heated.
