Former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has openly criticized the club, stating that failing to win a trophy for two consecutive seasons is unacceptable and pointing to internal locker room issues as the root cause.
In the latest episode of his podcast “Einfach mal Luppen,” Kroos delivered a blunt analysis of Real Madrid’s struggles following their recent defeat in El Clásico. He argued that the trophy drought is a direct consequence of poor relationships within the squad. “In Madrid, going two seasons without a title is unacceptable. Period,” he stated.
Kroos specifically criticized the team’s mentality in the match against Barcelona. He said the loss “seemed to have been accepted even before kickoff,” noting that the players failed to show the necessary fighting spirit. Although the second half was more balanced, Kroos found no positives in Madrid’s performance.
He also highlighted the difference in collective teamwork between the two sides, using Barcelona’s second goal as an example. “That goal illustrates the difference between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Olmo and Ferran, who were involved in the goal, might not have started if other players had been available,” he commented.
