Talent development remains a key structural pillar of modern football, serving not only as a sporting foundation but also as an economic engine within the industry. In this landscape, the youth academies of the world’s leading clubs have become value-generating factories, producing players who strengthen their first teams and command high market valuations. Based on the cumulative current market value of active players trained at each institution, Transfermarkt examines which club produces the most valuable talents.
A note on methodology: we considered the current market value of every player who spent time at a club’s youth system, including those who played at least one season in a junior team. Only the U23 reserve squad was excluded, as it often includes young players signed after their development, or even veterans recovering from injury or sidelined from the first team. Some players are linked to multiple academies, such as Michael Olise (Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Reading) and Xavi Simons (recruited by Paris Saint-Germain from FC Barcelona at age 16).
