Gage Workman made a spectacular debut for the Detroit Tigers, belting a tiebreaking, pinch-hit two-run homer in the sixth inning—his first big league blast—to snap the Tigers’ five-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the host Kansas City Royals on Sunday night. Called up from Triple-A Toledo earlier in the day after Kerry Carpenter landed on the injured list with a left shoulder sprain, the rookie infielder, who had appeared in 12 MLB games in 2025, delivered the decisive blow. Matt Vierling drove in two runs, while Hao-Yu Lee and Wenceel Perez each added an RBI. Riley Greene reached base four times and scored a run. Enmanuel De Jesus (2-0) tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and Kenley Jansen recorded the final three outs for his seventh save. Maikel Garcia led the Royals with three hits, a run, and an RBI; Vinnie Pasquantino chipped in two hits and an RBI, and Bobby Witt Jr. had two hits and scored a run.
**Orioles 2, Athletics 1**
Dylan Beavers delivered a go-ahead single in the sixth inning, and four Baltimore pitchers combined on a four-hitter to salvage the series finale against the visiting Athletics. Beavers and Gunnar Henderson each collected two hits for the Orioles. Chris Bassitt (3-2) struck out six and allowed one run over six innings, while Rico Garcia earned the save. Athletics starter Luis Severino (2-4) surrendered two runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings. First baseman Nick Kurtz drew a walk in the eighth to extend his on-base streak to 34 games, the longest active mark in the majors.
**Marlins 5, Nationals 2**
Heriberto Hernandez capped a three-run eighth inning with a two-run single, lifting the Miami Marlins to a win over the visiting Washington Nationals in the rubber match of their three-game series. Liam Hicks and Christopher Morel also contributed RBI singles for the Marlins. Sandy Alcantara threw six strong innings, and Josh Ekness recorded the final out for his first career save. Luis Garcia Jr. tripled, doubled, scored a run, and drove in a run for the Nationals, whose starter Cade Cavalli allowed two runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings.
**Rays 4, Red Sox 1**
The visiting Tampa Bay Rays scored three runs in the first three innings and got a solid start from Nick Martinez, who allowed just one run over 5 2/3 innings, to defeat the Boston Red Sox in the finale of a rain-shortened three-game series. Junior Caminero opened the scoring with a solo homer in the first, and a two-run second extended the lead. Martinez (4-1) scattered seven hits and struck out three for his fourth win, giving Tampa Bay its second victory of the weekend. Saturday’s game was rained out. New Hampshire native Mickey Gasper (3-for-4) recorded his first three hits as a Red Sox player, including two doubles
