Shanghai Sports Bureau Director Xu Bin announced on May 11 during the “2026 Livelihood Interview” that the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) will return to Shanghai for the fourth time from September 11 to 13. As the only Asian stop and the season finale, this race will determine the overall champion, with eight world champions competing.
Notably, the Chinese brand Zhang Xue Motorcycles will debut in MXGP. Having already secured three World Superbike Championship (WSBK) titles, the team will go head-to-head with the world’s elite, marking a compelling showdown between Chinese engineering and global powerhouse teams.
The event will introduce a “day-and-night” format for the first time, featuring high-speed racing during the day and a carnival celebration at night. It will also integrate with Fengxian District’s outdoor sports and lifestyle festival, combining motorcycle culture, trendy music, local cuisine, and intangible cultural heritage experiences. Tickets for the Shanghai leg will go on sale in early July via Damai and Jiushi Sports App.
